July 8, 2007 Sunday Sermon

From Hebrews 1:1-4
Illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
The Mediator

A yawning chasm;
ignorance and lostness;
the remote God unknown.
My human construct
couldn’t span the width
or plumb the depth,
this impassable gulf.

The Holy came; the man
lived and died and lived
again; gospel facts.
The mediator, the one and only,
realized the impossible,
brought revelation and redemption,
spanned the unbridgeable chasm
that I might know him.
