The God We Believe In

Table of Contents for series: Preaching the Gospel

July 15, 2007 Sunday Sermon

Taken from Hebrews 1:1-4
Illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
The God We Believe In
In the past over time, fragments
of God’s thought, clothed in words,
were spoken by the prophets.
Now, he has spoken by his son,
The Word; a full self-disclosure.
Light of light, a oneness.
The exact impress, a distinction.

His glory was revealed as Jesus

turned water into wine
calmed the storm with a word
multiplied the bread and fish
opened the blind eyes
raised the dead.

Jesus, full of grace and truth;

powerful and gentle
compassionate toward the humble
severe toward the proud
righteous; full of faith and love.

The God we believe in revealed;
the only alive and true God.
