August 26, 2007 Sunday Sermon delivered by Pastor Dan Schiel
Taken from: Luke 22:39-46; Philippians 3:7-11

His place of prayer and ours
a place to seek and know
the will of God;
a garden of night
no less a garden of love;
love shrouded by dark and hidden.
The answer to prayer
shocks our sensibilities;
crucifixion!
It feels like swallowing nails
to think of death like this;
his and in particular our own.
He takes our pains, our struggles,
redeems them and gives them back.
We feel different;
his ordinary people;
a new community.
The longer we spend with him
the more we become like him
sharing the likeness of his death.
We sense the coming day
When the body is made new
and the whole earth is spring;
when the snow geese return
and the holy spirit rises
with his healing in its wings.
All we have until then is
Christ in us, the hope of glory!
