You, who are the greatest of all,
grant us a portion of your littleness;
anoint us to live lives
as fresh as the clear streams
that rise up in the mountains.
May our burning hearts hear
your voice, fragrant with truth,
an altogether different language.
Make us love’s apprentices who,
sandaled with gospel peace,
cherish one another;
are quick to hear, slow to speak,
slow to get angry,
forgiving one another.
May we live as carefree as
a field of flowers; like children
chanting their skip-rope songs.
You, for whom our souls thirst,
show us your kingdom wonder
and teach us mercy
as we follow this Jesus way.
