November 18, 2007 Sunday Sermon
Taken From:Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:16-21

Who can bear to
tell the truth or hear it?
Hearing the words, we are
sometimes like the blind man
with mud on his eyes;
everything is a blur;
trees walking as men.
The Word of God speaks
to our famines as
well as to our feasts.
Haunted by his voice
we believe and struggle
to believe what seems
too good to be true.
We cling to each word
as a sound rises
within us, a monotone
of insatiable thirst.
We anticipate a future,
pray a poor man’s prayer,
a mixture of hope and despond.
Weak and vulnerable, we
open to God. Made accessible,
we tremble at his word,
submit to his shaping truth,
as we journey to a new
place, a different glory.
