A Long Waiting, an illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
Illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
Centuries, millenniums
a long waiting
having a promise, hoping;
living rhythms
a child could keep.

In waiting is learning:
the deep of sin
the futility of men
the wonder of God.
His mighty works dazzle;
his permissions confuse;
they ask, where is your God?

At the right time
a son is given.
Made alive, we live;
ours, a holy waiting
for the salvation of God.
