Gospel Borders, an illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
Illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
A man of prayer, he aches
to see the saints for whom he prayed;
there is so much to say to them,
things related to who they are.
His words are at times convoluted,
his syntax anacoluthic;
loose ends hanging everywhere
as the inner passion for God and the truth
rises to overflow his mind;
there is so much good news to share.

Thank God for Holy Spirit fire
that fills an educated man,
a man of brilliant mind, with
the worship and adoration of God;
that makes him more than a literary
figure with fancy words and a polished
delivery; makes him instead,
a preacher.
The loose ends are never left askew;
the gospel borders his words,
bringing them
into potent focus for the glory of God.
