A Communion of Saints, an illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
Illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
When he went out on the road
and met someone, he looked
for the Spirit in them; didn’t matter
their color or nationality
their education or lack
of same;
is there a brother here
with the Holy Spirit in him,
who longs for some fellowship?
A communion of saints.

When he came together with others
to worship God, he shared his gift,
expected to receive theirs; didn’t matter
simple lives
a mature experience
in Spirit;
the church is a fellowship,
a place of mutual exchange;
the faith of each other.
A “charismata” community.
