Comes the Mystery, an illustration by Grace Ellen Schiel
I live in the fear of what
I know, in the fear of what
I know not. Then
the gospel is heard, the real
that makes me right
with God. I taste and see
how good he is.
Blessedness soaks the ground
of my heart. I begin to
imagine the fullness of life.
Like a wing of shadow comes
the mystery in its clarity.
I trust him, keeping faith,
my heart an eye seeing,
joy expressed in the “ah” of praise.
