This is our second Knowing Him Today entry here on the web site updating you on Christ Church news and events. We welcome not only the Christ Church family, but anyone in the community — or for that matter the world — to get to know us better.
From the Pulpit
Last Sunday we heard the seventh and final sermon in the series entitled “His, in Life and Death.” This was a powerful series on a sometimes difficult subject. Of course, if you missed any of them you can hear them right here in streaming audio. We’ll let you know when the MP3 CD version is ready for distribution. This Sunday Pastor Dan will begin the Easter 2010 series with a sermon entitled “We Are Overjoyed.” With the sermon text from Psalm 126, this promises to be an uplifting message as we head toward Resurrection Sunday on April 4.
Church Family Meeting Change
Our Church Family Meeting originally scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday March 28, has been changed. Following next Sunday’s morning worship service, Christ Church members will remain a few minutes to affirm and install new elders, Philip Moorman and Bob Wendrock.
Christian Education Update
Adult Christian Education for the second quarter begins April 4. In the Fellowship Hall we’ll be studying the book of Ephesians. The second half of our course on Knowing God will continue in the regular adult classroom.
Web Site Update
We hope you enjoyed exploring the new look and feel of the web site last week. Of course, the primary entry each week is the most recent sermon text and audio. This will always be the first entry below the welcome text at the top of the home page, and will be updated as soon as possible after each sermon to include the audio.
We have begun a new series of articles entitled “The Web and the WORD.” The first three articles are online now and can be viewed by clicking HERE or by clicking on the title of any article in the series. All articles have a table of contents with direct links to all the series articles at the top right corner. The latest articles discuss using online bible resources. The third article in the series entitled Using the ESV Bible Online talks about using the ESV web site in our everyday bible studies. In the future we’ll be discussing other internet-related subjects as well, all in an effort to use the resources the Lord has provided to Know Him better.
Spring Brings Need for Church Yard Workers
Ahhh … the warmth of a spring afternoon, so welcome after a hard, cold winter. But spring also brings new duties for those in the church family dedicated to keeping the yard in top condition. In this photo Penny Phillips gives the first lawn trimming of the year. With a total of almost nine acres of property, much of it covered with a well maintained lawn, Christ Church needs a lot of “tender loving care” (that can also read hard, continuing maintenance) to keep it looking good.
We invite all of you (especially the young and energetic among you) to consider volunteering to help Christ Church look good to those who visit us and those passing by on League Line Road. Sharing our responsibilities makes it easier on everyone.
Continued Prayer Needs
We’ve had good news on many fronts with our prayer needs this last week, but there are still those in need of the Master’s healing touch, and we ask for your continued prayer for those in continuing need. We ask that you keep in touch via our email prayer list by checking your email daily for timely updates.
Answered prayer is always encouraging, but we should also remember to pray for each other in all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 1:2 says “We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers.” And 1 Thessalonians 5:17 entreats us to “pray without ceasing.”
Ladies Bible Study Resumes
After a week off for spring break, the Beth Moore bible study resumes this Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship hall for the third session of nine. Remember to be there!
