From the Pulpit
Last Sunday we heard the second sermon in the Easter 2010 series entitled “There Will be Praise.” Of course, if you missed it you can hear it here on the web in streaming audio. On this Resurrection Sunday, Pastor Dan will deliver the third sermon of the Easter 2010 sermon series with a message entitled “One Thing Left to Say.” With the sermon text from Psalm 150, it’s all about praising the Lord in His sanctuary and heavens with everything we have — with every fiber of our being.
The illustration you see here is from a May of 2006 sermon entitled “Watch Me” and when I ran across this illustration by our own Grace Ellen Schiel, it immediately spoke to me as a perfect conveyance of worshiping God with all our being. Read Psalm 150 and see if you don’t agree!
New Elders Affirmed
Christ Church members affirmed and installed two new elders last Sunday, Philip Moorman and Bob Wendrock. They are a welcome addition to the leadership of our congregation as we endeavor to minister to our own congregation and reach out to the community around us.
Local Mission Support: PACN Fundraiser
The Pregnancy Assistance Center North invites you to Dinner and a Show on Friday, April 30, 2010 at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. There will be a silent auction and raffle at 6 p.m. and dinner and a show at seven. This is a fund-raising event for PACN, which is doing excellent work in the Conroe Area.
Several Christ Church families have made reservations. We have two tables reserved and have eight places still available. The cost is $55 per person. You may email Pastor Dan or call to let him know if you would like to attend.
League Line Road Widening
Clearing the trees along League Line Road
The road construction continued past the church westward down League Line Road this week as as the crews continued to clear trees from the south side of the road. Heavy equipment makes short work of decades old trees as they are dug, pushed and broken to make way for progress.
While it is a little disturbing to watch the destruction of the trees, we also realize that our community is growing every day and the wider road portends new neighbors moving in around us. We are called to proclaim Jesus to those around us — we may soon get the opportunity for that on a grander scale with the likely influx of new residents along our road.
Christian Education Update
Adult Christian Education for the second quarter begins this week.
Continued Prayer Needs
New physical challenges for family members of for congregation have happened rather unexpectedly this week, calling us to prayers for physical healing and the strength to persevere in our faith as the Lord works. Also long-time members of the congregation continue in difficult times and we continue in prayer for them. We have also had praise reports from several folks as well, so life continues as we seek the Lord ‘s mercy, healing and grace in all things. We encourage you to stay attentive to the prayer needs for our congregation through regular conversation and via the email prayer updates.
