Now that we have your attention, we are pleased to bring you the fifth edition of Knowing Him Today. We welcome not only the Christ Church family, but anyone in the community — or for that matter the world — to get to know us better.
From the Pulpit
The scripture listed above is the text for this week’s upcoming sermon entitled “What Does He Want From Us?” the fourth in the Easter 2010 sermon series. You’ll see these exact words, taken from The Message on the cover of this week’s bulletin.
The painting of a bluebonnet is, of course, an illustration by our own Grace Ellen Schiel and seems appropriate to include this week, given the wildflower explosions we’ve seen along the roads in the past week or two.
Local Mission Support: PACN Fundraiser
The Pregnancy Assistance Center North invites you to Dinner and a Show on Friday, April 30, 2010 at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. There will be a silent auction and raffle at 6 p.m. and dinner and a show at seven. This is a fund-raising event for PACN, which is doing excellent work in the Conroe Area.
Several Christ Church families have made reservations. We have two tables reserved and have eight places still available. The cost is $55 per person. You may email Pastor Dan or call to let him know if you would like to attend.
Challenging Week for Many
I received an urgent phone call a couple of days ago from a member of our congregation who was in the middle of dealing with income tax software which wasn’t working AT ALL! She needed immediate help with the dreaded April 15 deadline looming overhead. After the phone call and (hopefully) providing some encouragement that just maybe all was not lost, a recent photograph of the tree clearing process along League Line Road came to mind. It expresses how I feel when having to deal with the IRS about anything, especially if I can’t figure out, to paraphrase the title of this week’s sermon “What do they want from us?” I present it here for all of us still struggling with such issues. Please be sure to click on the image to enlarge it for full impact!
A hearty “AMEN” response in the comments of this post will be greatly appreciated!
Continued Prayer Needs
There have been several pressing needs for prayer this past week because of unexpected hospital visits, continuing health challenges, praise reports from some and new prayer alerts about family members of our congregation. As always, we encourage you to stay attentive to the prayer needs for our congregation through regular conversation and via the email prayer updates.
In keeping with the sermon text for this week, our exhortation to continue strong in our faith through the tough times comes from Romans 12, The Message:
