From the Pulpit
The opening words to this article are quoted from the beginning of the text (from The Message) for this Sunday’s sermon entitled “Pure Gift.” Last week we listened as Les Williams delivered a powerful sermon from Philippians 4 which begins with the words, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.” From there he went onto encourage us to live in the gift of God’s grace TODAY instead of worrying about the troubles tomorrow may bring. If you missed it, you have an opportunity now to listen to Les’ sermon via the web. To hear it click HERE, then play the streaming audio using the player on the page.
Pastor Dan and Grace are back in town after a short 10 day vacation, so this week we’ll be hearing from him with a sermon which is a fitting follow-up to last week, because the “Pure Gift” he’ll be talking about is the same gospel which was the resaon for all the rejoicing last week. This will also be the continuation of the long-term sermon series entitled “The Gospel” on the book of Romans. The first sermon (2008) was entitled simply, “Paul” and introduced us to the author of the Letter to the Romans. To date, there have been 48 sermons in this series with this Sunday scheduled to be the 49th. You may view the entry for that sermon (which includes a table of contents to the entire series) by clicking HERE. Of course, all of the sermon entries have a streaming audio player on the page as well. To read the entire bible text (Romans, chapter 4) for this week’s sermon go HERE.

Angel Food Ministries Update
We are continuing to offer both our church family and the surrounding community the opportunity to order food through Angel Food Ministries. This is not a food pantry, but an economical way to order food for yourself, your family, or others who may have a need for it. Check out our first web article here on our church web site … read more about Angel Food Ministries available at Christ Church HERE.
Continued Prayer Needs
As you’ve heard through the last few prayer emails, one of our long-time congregation members has just been moved from ICU to a private room. At the same time one of our other families said good bye to a beloved sister only 51 years old. So we’ve run the gamut of joy, grief, prayer and praise this week as we continue our journey connected with this church family together. As always, we remind you to stay connected through first-hand fellowship as well as checking your email often for prayer needs and other updates about our congregation.
“If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.”
