From the Pulpit
Last week we listened as Pastor Dan again preached from the book of Romans continuing with the long-term sermon series entitled “The Gospel.” This week he will add depth and understanding from that same fourth chapter of Romans as he concentrates on verses 1-5. This will be the fiftieth message in the series and it is appropriate, at this point, to realize how Abraham’s belief, not his works, plays into his relationship to God. “The Accounting” is the title of this week’s message. Join us as we delve deeper into this important sermon series so central to our Christian journey.
Vacation Bible School
It was announced last week that we’ll be having a three day Vacation Bible School here at Christ Church in July. You are encouraged to spread the word, especially in the immediate neighborhood, as we provide an opportunity for our church to reach out and share this gospel message with eager young minds. This will be the first time we’ve done this in a while and we are looking forward to it.
Christ Church Media
Each week we do our best to bring you both audio and video copies of last week’s sermons to those who request them. These CD and DVD disks are provided free of charge and much of the work involved in producing them is done by volunteers. We appreciate those volunteers.
At present we provide either CD or DVD copies of sermons to about 15 families in our church and 15 families across the country, ranging from Willis, Texas, to Alaska. Our web site is recording between 2,000 and 3,000 separate visits each month. April 2010 recorded 2,509 separate visits with over 30 downloads per day of sermon audio containing the same message from the Christ Church pulpit delivered on Sunday morning.
Please spread the word about the availability of sermons to your neighbors, friends and acquaintances and encourage them to visit our web site as we do our best to provide this gospel message to all those the Lord has appointed to hear it both here in our community and across the globe.
We’ve enjoyed praise results from two members of our church family who had surgical procedures last week. Of course we’ve also heard about one long-time member who’s dealing with difficult health issues and remains hospitalized. We continue to lift him up in our prayer for healing, and grace to his wife and family as their journey in this becomes more difficult at times. Please check your email frequently for prayer requests and stay connected with your brothers and sisters so that we may all lift each other up through prayer.
This week we remind you of one of the most potent scriptures about prayer from the fifth chapter of the book of James:
