From the Pulpit
Last week we heard about Abraham as the primary example of “True Faith” because he was “truly convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.” As we continue our journey through the book of Romans this week we hear from Paul that we “have peace with God” because we have been justified by faith. The title of this week’s message is “Being Justified … We Have …” These words are taken directly from the scripture text (ESV) for the sermon, Romans 5:1-2 and the opening paragraph of this article is that same text as interpreted by Eugene Peterson in The Message. To read the text from the English Standard Version go HERE.
Given the events of these past two weeks, losing and saying goodbye to two of our church family brothers, this message will be comforting for us as Pastor Dan reminds us of our relationship with God through our individual faith in Jesus Christ. Our two departed brothers also shared in that relationship.
We Continue to Pray
Life in the family of Christ is no solitary journey and your continued prayers are coveted by those who receive them. We have several in this congregation who need your prayers as you are aware from the prayer requests sent via email, and from interacting with your brothers and sisters. Be diligent in prayer.
Every time I say your name in prayer—which is practically all the time—I thank God for you, the God I worship with my whole life in the tradition of my ancestors. I miss you a lot, especially when I remember that last tearful good-bye, and I look forward to a joy-packed reunion. (2 Timothy 1:3, The Message)
Thank You to all of our Volunteers!
It is easy to come to worship services here each Sunday and enjoy a clean sanctuary, restrooms, windows, nursery, offices and fellowship hall. It is easy to park on the well-kept grass parking lot, and look over the expanse of mowed lawn surrounding the church. So, from those of us who enjoy all these things, a resounding THANK YOU to all the volunteers who do these jobs and others I may have neglected to mention. By continuing to grace this church with your efforts, you not only make this a better, more inviting place to worship, but you also contribute to our financial well-being by making it unnecessary to hire someone to do these jobs.
What a Blessing!
